AT A GLANCE

Howard Zaretsky has been practicing intellectual property law since 1991 focusing on building patent portfolios for companies (many of them Fortune 100 companies) in the areas of electronics, signal processing, powerline carrier systems, wireless communications, RF systems, telecommunications, switching systems, networking, ASIC based algorithms and firmware, integrated circuits, semiconductors, image processing, radar systems and complex computer hardware and software systems. He has successfully counseled clients in all aspects of patents, trademarks and copyrights. Mr. Zaretsky enjoys an unmatched track record in patent prosecution, representing clients before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Participating on teams in several high stakes patent litigation suits has given Mr. Zaretsky valuable experience that he brings to patent prosecution for clients. Playing key roles in patent lawsuits has provided him a unique oppurtunity and experience to hone numerous invaluable do's and don'ts that can be applied in patent drafting.

With over 10 years of real-world experience working in the electrical engineering field, including radar systems, high speed analog and digital design, and powerline communications, combined with the many years of working with RF wireless and signal processing technology, Mr. Zarertsky 's hands-on work experience brings a deep understanding of the technology to the table; a capability many patent firms fall short on. From working as an electrical engineer at AT&T Bell Labs, Norden Systems (United Technologies), Sperry and Leviton Manufacturing to founding his own software company developing simulator/debuggers for the TMS320 line of DSP chips, he is adept at quickly comprehending inventive concepts and is able to speak to inventors in their own language, thereby minimizing the inventor’s time and eliminating inventor frustration when dealing with the patent attorney.

Mr. Zaretsky also has extensive experience working with Israeli high tech companies, having lived in Israel for seven years. Having drafted and prosecuted hundreds of applications for over one hundred Israeli high tech companies, including R&D divisions of several Fortune 100 companies, Mr. Zaretsky has worked with the brightest and best engineers in Israel’s “Silicon Valley” in protecting leading edge technologies. With almost 1000 pending and issued patents, he continues to practice intellectual property law providing patent prosecution and litigation support services for clients.
